Apply Now to be an Observer at the 7th Asia Pacific Region Youth Forum in Bangladesh, from 17-21 November 2012!
Scouts Australia is seeking 3 thoughtful, dedicated 18-25 year old youth members to be observers at the 7th Asia-Pacific Youth Forum to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The APR Youth Forum is held every 3 years as an ancillary event to the regional conference. Scouts Australia can send 2 delegates and 3 observers to this event. The two delegates are the Chairs of the National Youth Council and National Rover Council. The attached application form and criteria are for observers. Observers play a crucial role in the success of the forum, although they are not permitted to vote on formal motions and resolutions.
Note that, if Australia’s nomination for the APR Outstanding Scout Award is shortlisted in the APR Round, that nominee will automatically take one of the three observer positions. All sponsored youth members are required to submit a short report on their experiences and learnings to Scouts Australia within 4 weeks of returning home.
The Youth Forum brings Scouts from all around the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the big issues in Scouting and to propose ways of improving our movement. The successful applicants will receive a 50% scholarship to attend this event. At the conclusion of the Youth Forum, on the 21st November, the observers are welcome to stay for the APR Conference (24-29 November), and see their work in action as the proposals are discussed at the higher level.
All applicants are asked to fill in the attached application form. Please take note of the selection criteria for this event. All answers will be judged on the applicant’s ability to establish their claims against the selection criteria. Please submit all applications by MONDAY 4 JUNE to Andrew Cooper, Assistant International Commissioner, Scouts Australia by email: int.assistantcomm@scouts.com.au. Alternatively post your application to: Andrew Cooper, Scouts Australia, PO Box 155, Balwyn, VIC, 3104. Please direct all questions to Andrew Cooper.
