National Commissioner, Youth Program

Peter Fowler

As National Commissioner, Youth Program, Peter Fowler oversees the current Youth Program of Scouts Australia for all Sections, and leads the Youth Program team, consisting of Youth Program Commissioners from each Branch. This team ensures the program is delivered in a way that meets the needs of our youth members. Peter oversees National involvement at all National youth events, and works collaboratively with other members of the National Team including the Chief Commissioner and the National Commissioner for Adult Training and Development, among others, to set and implement strategic plans for Scouting.

As Scouts Australia moves towards its future, Peter will play a key role in managing the development, trial and implementation of the new Scout program initiatives as they are introduced in the next few years.

Peter began his Scouting career as a Cub. His adult leadership roles include those at Moorabbin Scout Group, and Adviser to the National Youth Council.

Peter is clear about what motivated him to take on this challenging volunteer role “We have lots to be proud of, as our organisation helps foster the growth and development of young people working towards the WOSM goal of ‘Creating a Better World’.

“I watch the youth members in my Scout Troop experience so many adventures that wouldn’t be possible outside of Scouting, and find being part of the development of young people is exciting, fun and it’s what drives me to be a part of the Scouting movement.

“Scouting is a key part of my life. I live by the Aims, Principles, Promise, Law and Method of Scouting values that influence my life choices.”

Outside Scouting Peter works for a volume home builder in Melbourne.
