Staying Connected to Scouting

What happens when a global pandemic limits face-to-face interaction? The Scouting community, globally, turns to Scouting@home. We’ve compiled a range of programs and resources as we move away from face to face Scouting.

Over the course of the next few months, we’ll be releasing programs and activities to support Scouting @ Home. You might choose to complete these as individuals, in Patrols or as Units, virtually.

Don’t forget to check in with your Scouting friends each week either! Many Scout Groups have already commenced virtual meetings, so if you are unsure how to do this, there are a network of others who might be one or two steps ahead that can help you out.

Physically Distant, Not Socially Distant

Uncertain about what systems are available for you to use to stay in touch?

Your Branch will likely be in contact with information regarding the systems you are best to use. Each Branch has their own preference for system, and will provide information and guidance on the system that is recommended for use by their Groups, including instructions on how to use it. If your Branch provides you with a nominated system, you should only use the system recommended by your Branch.

Here is a list of what some Scout Groups around the world have already started using:

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Zoom
  • Skype
  • Google Hangouts
  • Facebook Messenger (Venturer Scouts and above)

By continuing the virtual delivery of our program, we will help young people get some sense of calm and normality in these unusual times.
