Re-Appointment of Phil Harrison as Chief Commissioner of Australia

At the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) on 27 February, the Committee unanimously agreed to recommend the re-appointment of Phil Harrison as the Chief Commissioner of Australia for an additional three year term to finish in May 2024. This recommendation was submitted to the Chief Scout, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor General of Australia, and confirmed on 9 March 2021.

The NEC acknowledged the excellent work that Phil has done to lead, consult and collaborate with the Branch Chiefs and the National Commissioners and to develop the new National Strategic Plan.

Upon being advised of his re-appointment, Phil commented “I am honoured to be given this opportunity to continue serving Scouting in Australia as Chief Commissioner. I look forward to meeting with as many youth and adult members as possible and hearing how Scouting has made a difference.”

It was a positive week for our Chief Commissioner, as he was also appointed Principal of the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre during the week, a reflection of his skill and dedication in his professional life as well.
