Contingent Leader Vacancy

Scouts Australia is currently recruiting new Contingent Leaders to lead future overseas events in 2024!

Applications are now open for the position of Australian Contingent Leader to the following events:

7th Roverway (Norway) 22 July – 1 August 2024
Pacific Jamboree (Canada) July 2024
Essex International Jamboree 27 July – 3 August 2024
Canadian Venture August 2024

Contingent Leader applications for all of the events will close on 23 September 2022.

The role of Contingent Leader is a challenging and rewarding one. You will be responsible for a Contingent of Scouting Members, as well as for the organisation of their travel itinerary and safety. With the International Commissioner of Australia, you will also be the contact between the Event Organising Committee and Scouts Australia.

An Advisor will be appointed to work closely with, and provide support to, the Contingent Leader. The International Commissioner of Australia is also available for support and guidance.

Submitting an Application

Applications for these positions close on 23 September 2022.

Don’t leave things to the last minute! Late applications will not be accepted.

You will need to submit the following items during the application process:

Details of previous related experience… including leadership positions and major Scouting events
Claims detailing why you would be the best person to deliver on the key selection criteria of the role
Summary question as an opportunity to include any other information about yourself and why you should be appointed to the role
Contact details for two (2) referees, of whom at least one must be your current supervisor in Scouting
Branch Chief Commissioner endorsement (you will find a template at the bottom of this page).

Selection Process

After applications close, the Selection Panel will convene to review the applications and shortlist applicants for interview. Individuals who have been shortlisted for interview will be contacted to confirm your availability for the interview.

All interviews will be conducted online.
