Scouts Victoria is hosting a National Adventurous Activities School in survival skills over Easter 2020 in the Little Desert in western Victoria. The program is designed to provide Venturers 15+, Rovers, and Leaders from all Branches with an opportunity to learn difficult-to-obtain skills for the Outdoor Adventure Skills, which is a core part of the youth program. It will also provide survival camp organisers with new ideas and techniques for running survival camps. Depending on prior skills and experience, you may also have the opportunity to complete VET qualifications in outdoor recreation and leadership.
Our first day will be spent learning and reviewing core survival skills at Arura Guide Camp, at Dimboola on the edge of the Little Desert. On the Saturday we’ll be heading out to put it all into practice on a two-night activity, hopefully concluding with a rescue on Monday.
The cost will be $440, which includes training costs, meals, accommodation, and some equipment. Applications are now and will close on February 28, 2020, but places are limited so book early; you can apply online here. For more information, click here. or contact email@example.com.
