From July 1 to July 13 Scouts from across Australia will be exploring this incredible hub of international Scouting. \nFrom the moment you step into Kandersteg\, 1\,200m above sea level\, you know you’re somewhere special. Close to nature and away from the distractions of every day life\, you’ll find nowhere else like Kandersteg. That’s why Baden-Powell chose here. Hidden within the Finnish forest were admin buildings\, 15 metre tall tree houses and saunas floating on lakes\, all built by hand\, out of timber and rope\, by Finnish scouts in the weeks before the event. We were given the chance to create our own experience during the event\, with minimal pre-arranged activities and lots of freedom to choose what do to do when. From hanging out in the sauna with friends\, working out in the gym made from items found in the forest\, sitting around the campfire on the edge of the lake\, to climbing up stacks of hay bails with ice axes or learning dances from Scouts from all over the world. The upcoming Rock Related School could be an exciting opportunity to try something new! \nWhen\nSaturday 5th to Monday 7th October 2019 (Long Weekend) \nOption to arrive Friday night 4th October. \nWhere\nBungonia National Park\, NSW \nWho\nRegistered Venturer Scouts\, Rover Scouts and Leaders who want to be assessed for Level 1 or 2 and progress towards being a Guide or Instructor. \nCost\nTBA \nParticipants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and leadership in abseiling\, canyoning\, caving and bushwalking. The focus will be on the following skills\, but not limited to\, managing parties\, navigation\, dealing with emergencies and rescues. \nWhilst this course is suitable for all skill levels\, including beginners\, those with relevant experience can expect to upgrade their current skills and qualifications.
