Mark from WA was thrilled to experience AJ2019 thanks to the financial support from the Lord Baden-Powell Society. Read about his highlights in this reflection.
Dear Lord Baden-Powell Society,
I would like to thank you so much for your grant of financial assistance. My Jamboree experience was assisted by your financial support. Without this grant it would have been a struggle for my mum to allow me this opportunity.
Soooo much fun – thank you Lord Baden-Powell Society.
Without your assistance, I wouldn’t have been able to go to the Jamboree. That means I might not have been able to make new friends and meet new people from all over Australia and from around the world. I met Scouts from Bangladesh, England, Tonga, Korea and New Zealand. Badge trading was a lot of fun. I got some great badge trades and even a scarf from a Scout from Bangladesh and a woggle from Korea. It was a lot of fun.
Going on Metromania, I was able to visit Adelaide for the first time ever and one of my favourite things was to visit the Aviation museum. At the water activities I got to build a raft for the first time and test it on a challenge course. I went swimming whilst doing these activities at an inlet of the Murray River.
Woodhouse was one of my favourite activities. Going on the Tubby Slide was so much fun and exciting to go down it even though I had to walk up the hill with the tube each time. The green grass was also nice.
It is because of these experiences that I’m so grateful to the Lord Baden-Powell Society for helping send me to attend AJ2019.
