The National Rover Council (NRC) are now calling for nominations for a range of Executive and non-Executive roles. All roles are open to currently invested members of the Rover Scout section.

Executive Roles

Vice Chair

Apart from assisting the NRC Chair in carrying out Council duties, the NRC Vice Chair is also tasked with organising and establishing projects for Rover Scouts all over Australia to get involved in. These projects range from governance, to program, to marketing and more! They all work towards further developing the Rover Scout section.

The Vice Chair also assists with coordinating and maintaining Rover Scout public relations and marketing, as well as periodically updating the Rover Scouts Australia website.

Training & Development Officer

Are you passionate about training? Want to use that passion to benefit Rover Scouts all across Australia?

Apart from bringing Branch Rover Council Training Officers together online, the NRC Training & Development Officer is also the National point of contact for queries relating to the Baden Powell Scout Award. 

The successful applicant is involved in the National Training Committee and National Adventurous Activities Committee, providing input from the Rover Scout section’s point of view.

The NRC Training & Development Officer is also able to establish and coordinate National training courses for Rover Scouts in areas that they see a demand. This year’s Training & Development Officer ran a Rover Event Management Course, bringing together Rover Scouts from all across Australia.

Secretary

Are you interested in logistics and finance? Know how to take minutes, produce agendas, and communicate with stakeholders?

The NRC Secretary role provides an individual with a great opportunity to further develop skills across a broad range of areas – from governance, to logistics, to finance, and communication. The Secretary looks after producing the minutes and agendas for meetings, putting together the budget and annual financial report, and communicating information to Branch Rover Councils.

They are also a key organiser for the annual NRC Conference, facilitating logistics and ensuring the smooth running of the event.

Non-Executive Roles

Diversity & Inclusion Officer:

The Australian community is incredibly diverse, though it is not fully reflected in the composition of Scouting in Australia. To increase the inclusion and support of diverse communities within the Rover Scout section, the National Rover Council has established a team to address current barriers to participation.  

The Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Officer leads this team, who will create resources, analyse existing D&I frameworks, and develop possible solutions for issues relevant to the Rover Scout section. An action plan will be formed, and this will be key to developing the D&I direction of the Rover Scout section in Australia.

Promotions & Marketing Officer:

The NRC Promotions and Marketing Officer is responsible for the co-ordination and maintenance of Rover Scout marketing to promote the image of Rover Scouts and raise the numbers of Rover Scouts in the country. This ranges from news articles, to social media, and website marketing materials.
