Recognition of our Members

2020 Australia Day Honours Recognise Scouts

This Australia Day, Scouts Australia was delighted to see a number of its members receive an Australia Day Honour for their outstanding contribution to their communities. Scouting members were also recognised by their local communities in award ceremonies around the country. Scouts Australia congratulates them all.

Companion (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia

Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division

  • Annette Douglass, Scouts NSW a Cub Leader with Parramatta Scout Group since 1990
  • Rod Grummitt, Scouts Victoria, Honorary Commissioner with Scouts Victoria and Warden of Bay Park Scout Camp, and former Region Commissioner and Scout Leader since 1976
  • Ken Howes, Scouts Queensland, District Commissioner of Nambour District, Queensland
  • Malcolm Small, Scouts WA, Life Member of Scouts WA, and former Assistant Branch Commissioner for Adult Training and Development, and many other roles over more than 35 years
  • The late Jaqueline Warner, Scouts ACT, former Branch Commissioner for Adult Training and Development with Scouts ACT, and former Cub Leader, District Commissioner, and many other roles since 1982

Dr Graeme Worboys, a former ASL and AVL with Scouts ACT from 1991-2006, has been awarded the AM for significant service to conservation and the environment.

  • Jeanette Spencer – Cub Scout Leader, 2nd Knoxfield – Elder Citizen of the Year award, City of Knox
  • Nicole Peters – Rover, 1st Baranduda – Tallangatta’s Young Citizen
  • Zoe Cooper – Rover Scout, 1st Paynesville Sea Scouts – Paynesville’s Young Citizen of the Year
  • Andrew Yen – Scout Leader, 1st Warrandyte – a Menzies Community Australia Day award for services to Scouting in Warrandyte, Manningham and Victoria.
  • Matt Sutton – Young Citizen of the Year for Surat
  • Rebecca Halcombs – Scouts NSW, Unit Leader, 1st Narellan Scout Group – Camden Council NSW Young Citizen of the Year
  • Bob Bramley – Scouts Tasmania, Leven District Venturer Scouts, Young Citizen of the Year – Central Coast Council, Tasmania
  • Phil Donald – Scouts NSW District Commissioner – Outstanding Community Service Award from Northern Beaches Council in Sydney, NSW
  • Patrick Dunne – Scouts Queensland, Wynnum Scout Group – Wynnum Scope Club’s Australia Day 2020 Volunteer Award Winner For Service To The Local Community.
  • Paul Tripp – Scouts Victoria – 1st Mt Evelyn Scout Group – Yarra Rangers Citizen of the Year
  • Ireland Rugen – Clarence District Venturer Scouts, Scouts Tasmania – Clarence Council Young Citizen of the Year.
  • Ian Anderson – Joey Scout Leader, Everton Park Scout Group, Scouts Queensland – Community Volunteer Award for the Queensland State Electorate of Everton.
  • Tim Barr – Adult Helper & Quartermaster, Mosman Bay Sea Scouts – Community Citizen of the Year
  • Anthony Stout – Assistant Cub Scout Leader, Mosman Bay Sea Scouts – Youth Community Citizen of the Year.
