Australian Contingent members will depart Australia on 28 December 2025 and return on 9 January 2025. Post Tour participants will return to Australia on 14 January 2025.
There may be some travel required on either side of these dates for regional and remote Contingent members who need to connect with trans-Tasman flights.
There is no independent travel option for youth members. All youth members must travel with the Contingent between Australia and New Zealand on flights arranged by the Australian Contingent.
Adult applicants may submit a request to travel independently. Requests will be reviewed in line with operational requirements of the Australian Contingent. To request independent travel, adult applicants should email nzv2026@scouts.com.au and an independent travel request form will be made available. Please be aware that independent travel will not be approved until after applications close, when the operational requirements of the full Australian Contingent are known. Your request for independent travel must be approved by the Contingent Management Team; we recommend waiting for this approval prior to making any travel bookings. If approved, independent travel will be both ways – there is no option for one-way independent travel and one-way Contingent travel.
We anticipate that flight details will be available from mid-2025. Your personalised flight details will be published on the ‘Travel Details’ tab of the online application system.
Venturer Scout and line leader applicants will need to nominate their top three Expedition preferences upon application. Expedition places will be allocated in the order that applications are submitted with deposit paid. To secure your preferred Expedition, applicants are encouraged to submit their application and pay the deposit as soon as possible after applications open on 8 January 2025. Expeditions will be allocated after applications close.
We anticipate that expedition allocations will be available from mid-2025.
You can view all the expeditions available here.
The fee for Venturer Scouts is $3,860 plus the fee for the allocated expedition. With the optional Post Tour included, the fee for Venturer Scouts is $5,810.
The fee for adults is $3,150 plus the fee for the allocated expedition. With the optional Post Tour included, the fee for adults is $5,100.
Fees should be paid in line with the payment schedule available here.
If you are having trouble with making payments, please reach out to nzv2026@scouts.com.au as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer personalised payment plans.
One suggestion you might consider is setting up a separate bank account specifically for Venture, and transferring amounts into that account to suit your individual circumstances.
Indicative expedition costs are available here. Please note that these costs are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Those costs will be converted to Australian Dollars (AUD) and added to your online application by the Contingent Management Team after expeditions have been allocated.
