Wombat Lyons

Wombat Lyons’ Scouting journey began with a simple “bring a friend” invitation to a Cub Scout meeting and grew into a lifelong commitment. Progressing through every section of Scouting, Wombat achieved the Australian Scout Award (formerly the Premier Scout Award).

Wombat’s impact has extended far beyond his own Group, serving in a variety of roles within Scouts Victoria, including Deputy Chair of the Victorian Branch Rover Council, Assistant Scout Leader, District Leader, and District Commissioner.

Today, Wombat is the Assistant Chief Commissioner – Program Support Leader for Scouts Victoria and has previously served as the State Commissioner – Diversity and Inclusion.

Beyond formal leadership, Wombat is passionate about the performing arts in Scouting. Over the years, he has performed as a youth member in the Melbourne Gang Show, contributed extensively to Camberwell Showtime as an adult volunteer, and participated in many national and international Scouting events.

Professionally, Wombat is a youth worker based in schools, with previous experience in the disability sector. He is looking forward to working with Scouts across the country to champion diversity, celebrate different perspectives, and ensure that every member feels welcome, valued, and able to thrive within the movement.

Wombat’s appointment commenced on 1 August 2025 for a three-year term.
