Together for MefeKing Park

Supporting Scouting Community

during the recent Longwood Victorian bushfires in early January, Mafeking Rover Park was severely damaged. Mafeking Rover Park is a Rover Scouts Victoria owned property, managed by a young and dedicated group of Rovers.

Impact of the Bushfire

The impact of this damage on the Rover section will be enormous, as the property is not only home to many major Victorian events, such as the annual Rover Mudbash, but is also widely used by other community groups and associations.

Bushfire Appeal

Following the bushfires, Rover Scouts Victoria, in collaboration with Scouts Victoria, launched a fundraising appeal that raised over $60,000 in the first 24 hours. Donations can still be made through the Shout for Good donation page. Alongside this initiative, a local Rover Scout has designed a fundraising badge, which can currently be ordered through the Scout Shop. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to help rebuild Mafeking Rover Park.

Standing Together with Mafeking Park

As Scouts, we know what it means to stand by each other, and right now is no different. We understand that many Scouts from across the country have a connection to this site, and we encourage anyone affected by this tragic event to reach out to one of the many available support organisations.

Let’s stand together with our friends in Victoria as they move through the recovery stages.
For anyone who would like to assist, we encourage you to follow the link provided to express your support. We also strongly stress the importance of staying away from the site and the local area until it is safe to do so.
