Over the years, Scouting has been key in shaping his values, confidence, and Leadership. As he progressed through the sections, Scouting provided not only personal development but also meaningful opportunities for service, collaboration, and youth empowerment – experiences that have deeply influenced the person he is today.

Max has held various Leadership and governance roles at both branch and national levels, including Australian Contingent Leader to Roverway 2024, National Rover Council Executive, and event committees across Australia. These roles gave him invaluable insights into international collaboration, youth development across cultures, and the importance of values-based Leadership. They also strengthened his understanding of national governance, program delivery, and volunteer decision-making.

The Leadership skills Max developed through Scouting – collaborative Leadership, clear communication, navigating complexity, and uniting people toward shared goals have directly influenced his professional career. Scouting has been central to building his confidence, decision-making, and commitment to inclusive, values driven Leadership.

As the Under-30 Non-Executive Director on the National Executive Committee (NEC), Max aims to bring a youth-informed perspective to governance, strategy and oversight.. His focus will be ensuring that the Scouts Australia’s strategic direction aligns with core values, strengthens volunteer sustainability, and delivers positive outcomes for young people nationwide.

Max is dedicated to ensuring Scouting remains sustainable and continues offering future generations the transformative experiences that shaped his own life. He looks forward to supporting the NEC in guiding the movement through a period of growth and change, ensuring it remains accessible, safe, and impactful for all.
