First Nations Advisory Group

Expressions of Interest

Scouts Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identifying members to join the First Nations Advisory Group.

The First Nations Advisory Group has been established to ensure the voices, experiences, and perspectives of members working directly with youth members and Scout Groups are represented at a national level. The group provides an important connection between local Scouting communities and national decision-making processes.

Working alongside the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group (RAPWG), the Advisory Group feeds directly through the Chair to help inform discussions, priorities, and decisions relating to reconciliation, cultural competency, and First Nations engagement across Scouts Australia.

Member responsibilities

  • Provide advice and perspectives from grassroots Scouting communities
  • Support culturally informed decision-making and initiatives
  • Help strengthen understanding, inclusion, and cultural competency across the Movement
  • Build networks and share best practice across Scouting
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Scouts Australia’s reconciliation journey

We are looking for 

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Are passionate about Scouting and community
  • Value collaboration, leadership, and inclusion
  • Want to help shape a stronger and more culturally connected future for Scouting

This is an opportunity to ensure First Nations voices are heard, respected, and represented in shaping the future direction of Scouts Australia.
