World Scout Day 2026

Making Scouting Visible Across Australia

World Scout Day fell on a Saturday this year, providing a wonderful opportunity for Scouts across Australia to get out into their communities and showcase what Scouting is all about.

Scouts Australia encouraged Groups and members to make Scouting visible, active and seen on World Scout Day, 1 August and that is exactly what Groups across the country have been doing. The responses from our Groups were phenomenal.

Throughout the day and across the weekend, Groups continued their normal Scouting activities while taking the opportunity to connect with their communities, promote Scouting and, most importantly, have FUN!

The activities were as varied as Scouting itself. Some Groups hosted pioneering activities in city centres, while others took train trips into their capital cities. Scouts attended camps, enjoyed bushwalks and explored the outdoors. Other Groups stayed closer to home, volunteering at local fun runs and collecting donations for food banks.

Scouts Queensland also took advantage of this special occasion by hosting a Joey Scout Jaunt, attracting more than 450 youth members and 478 adult volunteers and parents. The event was filled with fun activities, challenges and opportunities for families to connect with their local Scout community and discover the many opportunities available through Scouting.

The wide range of activities is a wonderful reflection of what Scouting represents today. While the way we deliver Scouting continues to evolve, our core values remain the same values that have guided the Scout Movement for more than a century.

And one thing remains unchanged; Scouting is “Youth-led, adults support”.

World Scout Day was another opportunity for young people to take the lead, try new things, challenge themselves and make a positive difference in their communities through the Scouting journey of Plan>Do>Review>.

A huge thank you to all our Leaders, adult supporters, volunteers, families and, of course, our young people who helped make World Scout Day such a success. Thank you for supporting young people as they embark on their Scouting journey and for continuing to make Scouting visible, active and fun in communities across Australia.
