Every successful Contingent relies on strong leadership, teamwork and a shared sense of purpose. As we prepare for our upcoming international Scouting experiences, we are excited to introduce the newly appointed Australian Contingent Leaders who will guide, mentor and support our participants throughout their journey.
From helping young people prepare for life-changing experiences to fostering a positive and inclusive Contingent culture, our Contingent Leaders play a vital role in ensuring every member can make the most of the opportunities that international Scouting provides. Their leadership, experience and commitment to the Scouting will help create memorable adventures, meaningful friendships and lasting personal growth.
Each of our newly appointed leaders brings a unique Scouting story, a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting young people.
Let’s meet the team…
My name is Georgia Griffiths and I’m very excited to be the Contingent Leader for our Contingent to Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC) in 2028. I joined scouting as a Cub in 2008 and since then I have been through all the sections and was also lucky to have attended 5 international Scouting events. I have been to KISC twice, once in 2023 with the last Australian Contingent and again this year as a summer pinkie. I love the opportunities KISC offers for international friendship and high adventure activities in the Swiss Alps that we can’t experience in Australia. My hopes for participants of this event are that they make new friends from around the world, push their limits hiking through the Swiss alps, and have a unique youth-led experience that isn’t offered at other events. As a pinkie this summer I worked as a hike guide and set the record for the most times hiked to the cheesery in one season, visiting 10 times! No complaints though, the view and the cheese are totally worth it!
Hi! My name is Peter Favelle and I am very excited to be taking our next Australian Contingent to the Finland National Jamboree in 2028!
Since joining Scouts as a youth member, I have found international travel to be an amazing and exciting experience, seeing the world through a different perspective showcases the best of what other cultures have to offer and friendships for life are often created. A Scout contingent gives the safety and organisation many seek to travel the world for the first time without family or for the first time ever and Finland will be the best place to be in 2028. Over 8 days Australians will live, camp, build and eat with over 10,000 other Scouts in the forested wilderness of Finland plus experience an adventure packed tour of Finland and perhaps beyond. My international Scouting journey has taken me white water rafting in New Zealand, camel riding in Morocco, diving in Cuba, partying in Portugal, glacier walking in Iceland and Canoeing in Canada meeting fellow Scouts along the way and I want Finland to be our next big adventure!
Hi, I’m Harrison Winchester, and I’m proud to be leading the Australian Contingent to Roverway 2028 in Switzerland. I joined Scouts as a Cub in 2014 and I’m now a Rover Scout with a passion for delivering amazing experiences for our members. My favourite international Scouting experience was attending Roverway 2024 in Norway as a participant. One of my best memories is teaching the members on my Path some iconic Aussie dances (yes, the Nutbush made it to Norway) and learning similar traditions from Scouts from other countries in return. Sharing those fun cultural moments was something special.
My biggest hope for 2028 is that every participant and IST member comes home with experiences like mine, ones that leave them excited to keep going on their international Scouting journey. Outside of Scouting, I also volunteer with the NSW State Emergency Service, so whether it’s a storm callout or a Rover adventure, I’m usually happiest when I’m out helping others.
Hi, I’m Adam! I’m excited to be announced as the Australian Contingent Leader for the Essex International Jamboree in 2028. I joined Scouting in 2008 as a Cub Scout and am privileged to have represented Scouts Australia at a number of international events throughout my time as both a youth member and adult volunteer. I’m most looking forward to bringing an Aussie Contingent to the birthplace of Scouting, to experience a Jamboree on a truly global scale. The Essex International Jamboree brings together thousands of people from around the world and promises an adventure built on resilience, confidence, and lifelong friendships, which is exactly what I hope our Contingent members bring home with them. My favourite part of international events is that no matter what country you are in or who you are with, everyone is there for the same reasons. That shared spirit makes it even more rewarding to spend time away from home with your Scouting family, both new and old.
Hey everyone! I’m Nicholas Kammin, Contingent Leader for Taiwan 2029. I started out as a Joey Scout at Kedron in Brisbane back in 2010, and Scouting has taken me on some wild adventures, from riding camels in Morocco to camping across Iceland! Taiwan hosted an incredible World Scout Moot in 2004, and I am beyond excited to be able to go back there to experience Taiwan’s rich culture and amazing hospitality.
My vision for our Contingent is simple. To make this epic journey as accessible as possible for as many Rovers as we can, while showcasing the full potential, leadership, and spirit of Australian Rovers. I can’t wait to see our Rovers engaging with international cultures, building global connections, and making memories that will last a lifetime!
We also wish to welcome South Australian Rover, Flynn Hawkey to the role of Contingent Leader to the 84th Aotearoa New Zealand Moot ‘Too Fast Too Moot’ being held in Auckland over Easter in 2027.
The journey to an international Scout event begins long before departure. Over the coming months (and years), our Contingent Leaders will work alongside participants, Unit Leaders, Contingent Management Teams and families to build a strong, connected and prepared Australian Contingent.
We thank them for stepping forward to take on this important responsibility and look forward to sharing their experiences as the adventure unfolds. We know they will make a significant contribution to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop new skills and create memories that will last a lifetime.
International Scouting experiences don’t happen without a dedicated team of volunteers working behind the scenes to support, mentor and guide our participants.
We are currently seeking applications for Deputy Contingent Leaders to assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of upcoming international Contingents.
We are also inviting Expressions of Interest from members interested in joining future Contingent Management Teams (CMTs). These Expressions of Interest will be used to establish a merit pool, providing a pathway for experienced and aspiring leaders to contribute to upcoming international opportunities as they arise.
If you’re passionate about helping young people experience the adventure of international Scouting and would like to play a role in shaping future Contingents, we encourage you to get involved.
