Youth Program Review

The Downageing Generation

Australians are living longer than ever before and this remarkable growth in longevity is the primary cause of our ageing population. With Australians living longer, they are also working later and retaining leadership longer. What impacts does this have on Scouting and young people in leadership roles?

This social analysis research paper was prepared by McCrindle Research and discusses the situation with Australian living and working longer – the downageing generation.

Will this make it harder for youth, like the Scouts we develop, to obtain positions, especially in leadership?

Will our adult leaders want to stay in Scouting longer? Is this ok?

What’s the impact on the Scouting program as this trend continues?
