Scout Central and Training

A number of new and updated eLearning modules for Adventurous Activities will be released on 1 November 2017.

AA BUSHPLAN has been renamed as ‘Bushwalking Skills’ and will include a series of short video clips, illustrating some of the essential skills required for Bushwalking activities.

The new AA ABSEIL ‘Abseiling Skills’ module will provide youth and adult members with the background knowledge required for safe and fun abseiling activities. Members undertaking Level 1 abseiling training will be required to complete this module before attending the face to face practical skills training course.

In the same way, the new AA PADDLE ‘Paddling Skills’ module provides the background knowledge required for safe and fun canoeing and kayaking activities. Members undertaking Level 1 canoeing and/or kayaking training will be required to complete this module before attending the face to face training course.

In addition, a set of new, simplified “assessment of proficiency” workbooks will be available with the new Abseiling and Paddling modules.

The benefit of these new modules and workbooks will be that more time will be spent on Level 1 Courses participating in the activity, and less time in theory sessions or completing workbooks.

The new AA ABSEIL and AA PADDLE modules also provide an excellent general purpose resource for all members who want to find about more about these activities, or update their general knowledge.
