Is Society Denying Young People the Chance to Take Risks?

A generation of young people growing up “shrouded in cotton wool” could be left unable to face the dangers of life because no one allows them to take risks in childhood, the head of the Scouts UK has warned.

This article from The Telegraph newspaper in London discusses the belief that the growth of Scouting in the UK may be partially linked to the Movement being seen as one which allows children to experience adventure while schools are quickly shutting down those opportunities.

The Youth Program Review has received much feedback about training and resources for adventurous activities. If we were able to overcome these issues, is there a similar opportunity for us, as there is for Scouts UK?
