Engaging McCrindle Research Update
The YPR Coordinating Team and Scouts Australia would like to thank everyone who wrote to us expressing concern about the engagement of McCrindle Research Pty Ltd to undertake some preliminary research for the Youth Program Review.
To help address concerns about McCrindle Research, it is important to know that this company has worked with Scouts Australia for a number of years and it has always met our expectations. Mark McCrindle has also worked actively alongside the National Team in the past, helping to develop our Strategic Plan as well as deliver numerous presentations to our Branches. As this company already had access to much of the data we were looking for, we had decided they would be best placed to undertake our initial research.
Scouts Australia has since discussed the concerns raised with McCrindle Research, and we are satisfied by its response. We have also confirmed its performance with some recent clients. The Salvation Army, for instance, is very satisfied by the quality of work completed.
As a result of our firsthand experience, and the additional background checks we have completed, we are happy to proceed with the first phase of the research project, which will include:
- McCrindle Research undertaking focus group research and preparing a report.
- Mark McCrindle will present the company’s findings to the Scouts Australia National Executive Committee meeting in June and answer questions.
Scouts Australia will then review the work done by this external company before engaging them on any subsequent research work. If we are not satisfied by what has been done, we will seek alternative organisations to complete the research.
