Scouts in World Record Attempt

Did they Beat The Record?

On Sunday 18th February, 80 Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venturer Scouts (and a slew of parents and Leaders) took to the foreshore of Surfers Paradise to be a part of the Guinness World Records attempt at building the most sandcastles in ONE HOUR!
World Record Attempt Sandcastles

Whilst they didn’t crack the record, the Gold Coast Region Scouts developed valuable skills in the areas of

  • Teamwork
  • Persistence
  • Patience
  • Enthusiasm
  • Hard Work

Both the Scout Troop and Venturer Unit made the most of the outing with a journey on the light rail, and a scavenger hunt through Surfers Paradise

The record is 3,000 sandcastles built in ONE HOUR! This was achieved, but with the wind blowing, and by the time the judges could check every sandcastle, it had gone down to about 1,600.

Watch out for these Scouts as they return again looking to beat the Guinness World Record!
