Going Camping Soon?

Our Tips and Tricks for A Successful Camping Expedition

Are you one of those type of people who spends all of the night before an adventure tossing and turning trying to remember if there is anything that you have forgotten to pack or are you a compulsory list writer?

Either way, our e-Learning Module, Camping Skills (AA SITE), is a really valuable resource. After all, selecting a good site doesn’t happen by accident.

Camping skills will help you develop a checklist for your next outing by working through considerations for:

  • logistics in selecting a safe and comfortable campsite;
  • acquiring various licenses and meeting local laws and legislation
  • correct shelter selection and campsite layout
  • packing the appropriate equipment for catering and activities
  • hygiene, sanitation and risk management
  • minimizing your environmental impact

Any member of Scouting with a current membership number can access Scout Training. To login, your User Name is your membership number and if you have not logged in before your password is your Date of Birth DDMMYYYY. This is available to most youth members too.

So, if you haven’t been to e-Learning in a while, or you’re new to Scouting, this is a good module to whet the appetite. For members that are interested in getting officially qualified with a Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation, this module will also form part of your evidence to gaining this qualification.

The Camping Skills Module is quintessential Scouting, and in the words of a wise man…

“Be Prepared… the meaning of the motto is that a Scout must prepare himself by previously thinking out and practising how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise.”

Robert Baden-Powell
