As you will probably know, The Lord Baden-Powell Society (LBPS) has for several years conducted an appeal know as the “Jamboree Fund”, with the sole purpose of raising funds to assist youth members who have difficulty in raising the full amount of the cost of attending Jamborees or Ventures.
Next year in January, South Australia will be hosting the next Australian Jamboree and the Board of the LBPS has committed to raising $100,000 to assist around 200 youth members to attend this wonderful, once in a lifetime event.
Those of us that have been to such events as youth members will no doubt recall the fun times that we all had. If you attended as a Leader, you will have seen the difference ten days in a Jamboree camp can make to the personal development of Scouts.
The reason for this letter is to tell you that so far, we have raised around $82,000, but we are still $18,000 short of our target of $100,000 and the time to pay the Jamboree fee is fast approaching.
Please help us to reach our target by sending a donation to the LBPS Jamboree Fund, however small. Every little amount helps to add to the target.
You can make your donation by sending a cheque to our office, by contacting the Society with your credit card details, or by direct debit to the Lord Baden Powell Society (BSB 032 090, Account 676886. Please use your name or mobile number as reference.)
For those members who have already donated, I thank you for your support, but if you can help a little further, your additional donation would be very much appreciated and remember all donations over $2 are of course tax deductible.
Yours in Scouting,
David Jones AM. FCA
