National Adviser Diversity & Inclusion

Be Scouts Australia’s First Diversity and Inclusion Adviser

In this volunteer position, you will support Scouts Australia to actively embrace diversity and ensure Scouting is inclusive. The role forms part of the National Sustainability Team, and with volunteers and staff from across Scouts Australia, you will ensure that our practices, policies and initiatives reflect best practice in diversity and inclusion, and complies with relevant legislation, our values, and the policies of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. As this is a new role, and work has only just started on Scouts Australia’s Diversity & Inclusion journey, you will have a great opportunity to shape this portfolio.

You will work with members of the National Sustainability Team to shape Scouts Australia’s response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through the youth program, training, policies and other initiatives. You will work with a team of volunteers from across Australia, driving and supporting initiatives that ensure we reflect the diversity of contemporary Australia, and drive inclusive practices so more people can participate in Scouting.

To be successful in the role, you will have outstanding communication, consultation, engagement and management skills as well as highly developed skills in guiding, influencing and developing relationships with a diverse stakeholder base. You will be passionate about this topic area, bringing your professional and/or educational experience to help Scouting be a community leader in this area.
