Scout Paddlers Blitz the Snowy River Extreme Race

Scouts braved chilly alpine waters in September to compete in the Snowy River Extreme Race. Congratulations on the great results!

River paddlers from across Australia and overseas descended on Island Bend in Kosciuszko National Park on 29-30 September to celebrate and participate in the annual Snowy River Extreme Race (SRER).

A white-water race held on the alpine river below Guthega Dam, the SRER consists of teams of two racing over a short section of river on either expert (grade 4) or intermediate (grade 3) water.

Scout paddling teams from Victoria ‘smashed’ the snowy river extreme race in the Junior section.

Brandon D and Rowan H received 1st place and Lydia S and Luke V received 3rd place. A massive congratulations to them on such amazing achievements!

If you would like to get started with paddling, the best place is the Paddling Skills e-Learning module. If you find it tickles your fancy, this module is an entry point for paddling flatwater which can lead to white-water or sea kayaking!
