National Windsurfing School Review >

Scouts Australia’s first National Windsurfing School, held during October, was the perfect opportunity to upskill more leaders as we roll out the Outdoor Adventure Skills.

On the weekend of the 18th – 19th of October, five members from Queensland and New South Wales Branches gathered at Manly, just outside of Brisbane, for the first National Windsurfing School.

Although weather conditions ranged from calm to gale force winds, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to develop their skills further. Discussions on how to support windsurfing as part of the new Outdoor Adventure Skills also formed part of the weekend outcomes, as more and more Scouts are expected to try the activity over the coming years.

The School was assisted by a team of Instructors from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’s Windsurfing Centre of Excellence to benchmark skills and develop guiding skills in windsurfing.

Scouts Queensland’s new fleet of BIC Wind SUP Windsurfers were christened and put to good use at the school. We thank the Queensland Government for funding the Windsurfer Training Fleet.
