For International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the stories of women in Scouting and the contribution they make to our movement. Kara Taglieri is one.

What Brought You Into Scouting?

I joined Joey Scouts as a 6-year-old because my big sister Daniella was doing it.

What Keeps You In Scouting?

Friends, having a purpose and giving back.

What’s the best thing you’ve done in Scouting?

Performing and later directing over 100 kids in a musical stage show.

Would you recommend Scouting to other women and why?

I would recommend Scouting to other women because its inclusive and you get lots of out of it.

What do you think is the most important thing that women can bring to Scouting?

Compassion, helpfulness and being hands on.

Who is your female ‘hero’?

Michelle Obama.

Do you have any other ‘heroes’?

To corny to say my sister?

Do you have a personal philosophy that motivates you?

Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.
