Christmas Wishes from the Chairman, Lord Baden-Powell Society
I would like to give a special thanks and Christmas wishes to all our Members and Supporters who have generously donated this year despite the many challenges that 2020 presented us with.
The Lord Baden-Powell Society continues to fund raise and process donations received in order to help disadvantaged Youth Members participate in major Scouting activities, such as the Australian Jamboree to take place in Victoria in January 2022, and World Jamboree due to take place in 2023.
During the 2020 period, the Society distributed $43,493 of funding to support our Australian Branches and Scouts nationwide, along with $1,777 also allocated to support three Venturer Scouts to attend an international event during January 2020.
The Youth Members’ reports of their personal experiences at AJ2019 and a report from the World Jamboree were published regularly throughout the year. These reports can be accessed at any time on our website.
With these personal reports, it is important for us to inform our Members and Supporters how their donations are impacting young lives across Australia with their financial contributions. The Lord Baden-Powell Society gratefully recognises the contributions made to Scouting by the Society’s long established and loyal Members whom after many years, continue to support us.
We are also pleased to announce that we’ve had new Members joining us this year but would love to see more, so please do encourage your Scouting fellows to join us in this wonderful cause.
Our thanks are extended to all those generous Donors who have contributed to our Jamboree Fund Appeal so far this year, where we are now concentrating in fundraising for the next 26th Australian Jamboree to be held in Victoria in 2022.
We have today raised just over $44,000 and our intended target is to reach $150,000 by the end of 2021. We will keep you updated on this via our website here.
