Christmas Wishes from the Chairman, Lord Baden-Powell Society, Mr David W Jones, AM
I would like to give a special thanks and Christmas wishes to all our Members and Supporters who have continued to donate this year despite the many challenges.
The Lord Baden-Powell Society continues to fundraise and to process donations received in order to help disadvantaged youth members participate in major Scouting activities, such as the Australian Jamboree, Australian Venture and the World Scout Jamboree as they will resume again soon.
As we continue to live with COVID19 and have survived so many lock downs and government health orders, in some States more than others, we have experienced a slight decline in donations. Whilst we fully understand the difficulties and challenges that many of us have experienced and have been faced with due to COVID19, we hope that things will improve so that we may continue with our work in helping young Scouts attend any major event they wish to take part in regardless of their personal financial difficulties.
Unfortunately, most major events, especially the International ones, had to be cancelled this year so therefore we are very short on content for our regular National News reporting of the sponsored youth members’ experiences on the ground, when they are out and about, enjoying the activities that Scouts Australia provides for them. We are very hopeful to receive more news stories in the new year as our National and International events recommence going forward.

With these personal Reports, it is important to us to inform our Members and Supporters how their donations are impacting young lives across Australia with their financial contributions. The Lord Baden-Powell Society gratefully recognises the contributions made to Scouting by the Society’s long established and loyal members whom after many years, continue to support us.
Our thanks are again extended to all the Donors who have again this year generously contributed to our Jamboree Fund along with their 2021 yearly membership renewals.
