Have you ever found your limit? Have you ever wondered how far you can go under your own effort? This could be the opportunity for you to find out.
This expedition will have you start Venture over 200km away from main base, and you will have 4 days to get there before Venture starts. Using a combination of cycling, tramping, and rafting, you and your unit will follow the Coast-to-Coast route from the West Coast. This route will see you travel over 200km, gain over 1000m in elevation, and find yourself in remote locations with only your units determination to get you through.

Hike out to Woolshed Creek where you are spending 4 days of Rock Climbing in the outdoors. This is a great way to hone your Rock Climbing in a beautiful landscape away from civilisation. It’s for all ranges of skill and with a perfect balance of upskilling and climbing the many natural rock faces in the area. There will be some chill time to get the blood flowing in your arms again and maybe even a trip down to the water caves.

Gear up for a trip of a lifetime on the best mountain biking tracks Canterbury has to offer! You will visit various places all over the Region including the Christchurch Adventure Park. It’s not all on the trails though, there will be plenty of time to chill out and relax, maybe including a soak in the hot pools! If you want to bring your own bike, it will need to be checked over by an approved cycle shop before Venture.

The St James Walkway from the Lewis Pass to Boyle Village in North Canterbury is a real Kiwi gem. Enjoy a nice stroll through the Canterbury high country. This walk is a great introduction to multi-day hikes. A perfect hike for beginners through to intermediate. Stunning Alpine Scenery. This tranquil subalpine track has long been a favourite destination for Trampers. End the hike with a night to recharge and relax before heading back for phase 2.

If you’ve always wanted to explore the underwater world for longer than you can hold your breath, then learning to dive is for you! Take the opportunity to learn to dive whilst gaining the Internationally Recognised PADI Open Water Dive Certificate. To make the most of the experience you will do the theory work online so when you turn up to Venture you can focus on getting wet. When you are not doing one of your four dives (including 2 pool based training dive sessions and 2 open water dives), you will have plenty of time to explore all that Canterbury offers.

Excitement extreme!. You swim through the pools in anticipation of what the next horizon line has installed. Could it be a jump off a waterfall? Maybe there’s an abseil next to the waterfall or canyon sidewall…or in the waterfalls flow itself! We slide down smooth water-worn rock faces or zipline through the air then free fall into the deep green pools below. Drag yourself out of the water then scramble over and among the rocks and boulders to the next waterfall announced by the trickling running stream just before it cascades into the spray and mist below. Come and experience nature’s water park! If you love water sports and you are comfortable with heights, this will likely be one of the best things you will ever do!
