Important Announcement for All Scouts

Join us at Government House Canberra

Scouts Australia to hold first camp on the grounds of Government House in nearly a century!

Government House in Canberra is the official residence of the Governor-General. In addition to serving as a residence, the house and grounds, which span over 130 acres, are used by the Governor-General to fulfil his role as Australia’s Head of State and Commander-in-Chief and our Chief Scout. Government House is where Prime Ministers and Ministers are sworn in to office, international leaders are welcomed and where the achievements of Australia’s most outstanding citizens are officially acknowledged.

Back in the days before television, when the world was still in black and white, Scouts held a camp on the lawns of Government House, paddled in Lake Burley Griffin, and had “a jolly good time” (an actual quote).

In September this year WE ARE GOING BACK to hold the first camp on the grounds in nearly a century by any organisation. This will be held during the Spring school holidays commencing from Sunday 24 September 2023. For now, you may wish to pencil the date into your Scouting diary – which we realise is already busy for this time of the year, especially for Cub Scout Units across many Branches.

This will be a special and unique event and will include representatives from all Branches and opportunities for all sections.

Events details and the program are still being prepared and will be released when finalised. So please hold off on asking that question just yet.

Stay tuned for more information!
