To all Venturer Scouts and Leaders,
I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Yesterday, we received communication from Buckingham Palace, via the Governor General and Chief Scout His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC, with an update in relation to the Queen’s Scout Award.
You may recall that following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last year, there was a temporary hold placed on the renaming of the Peak Award for Venturer Scouts until such time as King Charles III made a determination regarding the patronages he was going to bestow. This determination has yet to be made. During this period, we used the title Venturer Scout Peak Award as an interim measure for our youth members.
Following further discussions with the Palace, we are pleased to announce that we have received approval to continue issuing the Queen’s Scout Award until the official patronage question is resolved. This means that all Venturer Scouts who achieved this award since the Queen’s passing will now be recognised as Queen’s Scouts, a well-deserved honour for their remarkable achievements.m Branches will send out certificates and/or organise presentations with Venturer Scouts as soon as possible.
We wish to express our gratitude to the Palace and the Governor General for their support and advice.
We encourage all Venturer Scouts to take pride in their achievements and share this news with their families, friends, and fellow Scouts. It is an opportunity to showcase the values and skills you have developed through Scouting and inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
Leaders, we encourage you to share this message with all Venturer Scouts.
If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to your respective Branch. We are here to assist and support you in any way we can.
Once again, congratulations to all Venturer Scouts who have earned the Queen’s Scout Award.
Yours in Scouting,
Phil Harrison
