Youth Voice for Adults in Scouting

Scouts Australia is seeking an Under 30 Adult Member to join its National Adults in Scouting Committee to further the ‘youth’ voice on matters relating to Adults in Scouting.

The National Adults in Scouting Committee (NAISC) exists to provide strategic guidance and input for the continued development and deployment of Scouts Australia’s National Adults in Scouting Policy and Standard and related issues and practices that affect the broader Adult Member population of Scouts Australia. It’s remit is to:

  • Ensure that the aim and objectives of the World Adults in Scouting Policy and related guidance notes (as set from time to time by WOSM) are reflected in the Scouts Australia Adults in Scouting Policy and Standard
  • Proactively support and cooperate with the Asia Pacific Regional Scout Committee and its relevant subcommittees on all matters pertaining to AIS.
  • Agree strategic priorities to ensure that the underlying policies and management / leadership practices of Adults in Scouting in Australia continue to remain contemporary and support the wider aim, vision and mission of Scouts Australia.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations to the National Operations Committee (NOC) as required from time to time including, but not limited to, changes to Policy & Rules, the Scouts Australia Adults in Scouting Policy, Scouts Australia Adult Recognition Awards scheme and other operational practices.
  • Provide Strategic input to the National Training Committee on matters pertaining to Adults in Scouting.
  • Understand all impending regulatory changes that may affect the underlying policies and management / leadership practices of Adults in Scouting in Australia and that these are shared and understood as well as scheduled for timely delivery where required.
  • Ensure that where legal / insurance or other professional services / advice is required that this is acquired in a timely manner

The National Adults in Scouting Committee (NAISC) meets about four times a year, usually virtually, with one face-to-face meeting held in Sydney. All travel costs for this role are met by Scouts Australia and it is expected the successful candidate will commit for three years to the Committee.
