Adult Recognition Award Nominations 2025

The procedure for the Adult Recognition Award nominations has been modified commencing 2025. The current six questions on the nomination form have been reduced/combined (to a maximum of four) according to the level of award being sought.

  •  A recommended word count has been introduced to allow an appropriate level of responses to be added.
  • A “hint sheet” with suggested areas to consider for each question has been added, giving examples.

Both Leader and Supporter Awards remain in the same document and have not been separated. Please note there is no change to the Rover Service Award nomination form or process.

Detail of modifications

Introduction in the “Evidence of Service” to support recommendation box, has been amended with the note below added.

Write responses to each of the questions, using at least the minimum suggested word count, to capture the reasons for your nomination. These awards are for individuals who have contributed above and beyond what is expected from their Scouting role. It’s important to ensure the story of this person’s efforts is communicated to a committee/person that may not know them.

It is important to list dates, events and places as appropriate and only refer to service and evidence since the Nominee’s most recent award (if applicable). Evidence can be typed directly in the space provided.

Six questions have been combined into maximum of four questions:

Special Service Award, Meritorious Service Award
Complete question 1 (200 words) and question 2 (250 words)

Outstanding Service Award and Silver Wattle
Complete question 1 (200 words) and question 2 (250 words) Expanding your responses to outline fulfilling different roles e.g. events, service, support, other contributions beyond the section / group?

Citation Summary

Considering the responses to the relevant questions, it is strongly recommended that a citation (summary) as outlined in the “NOTE” section above for all awards, be provided in a form that a third person could read out in support of the recommendation when an award is presented.

It should read as a brief story of the nominee’s achievements relevant to the nomination as these citations can be used for nominating the person for Australian Honours, other external awards and local media releases.

A citation is a requirement for awards such as Distinguished Service Award, Silver Koala, Silver Emu, National President, Silver Kangaroo a minimum of 500 words is required.

For all other awards, where the citation is considered appropriate, the minimum word count should be 300 words.
