LifeLeaders

A Scouts for SDGs initiative

You’ve heard of Earth Tribe! You’ve heard of Messengers of Peace! But did you know there are two more pillars to World Scouting’s Scouts4SDGs?

HealthAllies and LifeLeaders were launched at the World Scout Conference in August 2024 and are starting to pilot across the globe now!

LifeLeaders is a new global initiative, and as it commences the rollout in 2025, Scouts Australia has been selected as one of 12 Member Organisations to roll it out first!

We are seeking interested Units and Groups to express interest in testing out this new initiative. We are keen to hear from young people and adults alike.

Life Leaders is a community where young people support each other to thrive and to be equipped with the skills, mindset and confidence to navigate their lives with purpose and resilience. It is about creating a world where every young person shares and empowers each other to lead with integrity, innovate with courage, and transform their communities for the better.

What’s involved?

  • Nominated members of your Unit or Group will be invited to attend a weekend training course in one of three major capital cities during the month of May or early June. For each Unit or Group, we would be looking for 4-6 attendees, ideally including young people aged 14 and above
  • Members will be inducted into the Impact Innovators Challenge, exploring the challenge together and identifying any tips and tricks to support the implementation
  • Members will be provided with a resource kit to support the activities in the Challenge Pack
  • You will be asked to share your experiences of the activities you completed throughout the challenge
  • You will be asked to share your experiences in creating and delivering a community impact project – this should get loaded onto the Scouts4SDGs Hub
  • Up to 6 young people will be asked to be Ambassadors for the Initiative – they will be involved in sharing on social media and in reporting on behalf of Australia to World Scouting
  • Members who complete projects will receive the Impact Innovators Challenge Badge – this can be worn on your uniform

How does this align with our program?

The Impact Innovators Challenge uses the processes of Design Thinking to create and deliver community projects. This means it will support you in:

  • Community Challenge activities
  • Personal Growth Challenge activities
  • Special Interest Areas

The team from Scouts Australia can assist you with identifying key alignments, but we already know that there is great potential for multiple Special Interest Areas and Challenge Area-connected programs.

What are you waiting for? Express your Interest today! Nominations close March 21.

We will be in contact with Groups and Units by April 11 to finalise arrangements for the training sessions.
