The counter encouraged visitors to dream big about their next journeys. Popular local destinations highlighted included Larapinta in the Northern Territory, Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, and the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. For those looking internationally, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe emerged as favored spots. The Venturer Scouts did an outstanding job sparking excitement, helping visitors explore potential adventures, and sharing key information about the LTAF program.
Adding to the Jamboree experience, as part of gathering arranged by the World Scout Foundation, Australian Chapter, two LTAF participants presented their personal adventure stories, offering valuable insights into their journeys. Lincoln from Scouts South Australia gave a compelling overview of the LTAF fund, its purpose, and its impact. Meanwhile, Paige from Scouts Queensland shared details about organizing a regional training camp for sea-kayakers, an initiative that demonstrated her leadership and commitment to outdoor skills development. Philip from Scouts Victoria recounted his experience of planning and executing a memorable adventure to New Zealand, underlining the importance of preparation and exploration.
The dedication and enthusiasm of the Venturer Scouts, combined with the inspiring presentations, left a lasting impression on all who visited the Nat-Shack. It was a remarkable opportunity for Scouts to learn, connect, and envision their own adventurous futures, encouraged by the resources and guidance provided through the LTAF program.
Additionally, a successful Leadership Through Adventure Fund (LTAF) Gathering was held at the Nat-Shack on the 11 January hosted by Shaylah McClymont (Deputy Commissioner of Scouts Australia) on behalf of the LTAF Committee, whose efforts contributed to the smooth flow of the evening.
The event brought together approximately 120 attendees, including about 80 LTAF Ambassadors who represented 36 previous LTAF-supported adventures. During the gathering, Grace, assisted by her father and Group Leader Ross, shared a captivating video showcasing their experience at Everest Base Camp. The video also highlighted a significant clean-up campaign they undertook during their return from the adventure, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
The gathering also provided an opportunity to recognize the achievements of adventurers who had completed their LTAF journeys. Brendan Watson OAM, Chief Commissioner of Australia, alongside respective state Chief Commissioners, presented 14 Certificates of Achievement to adventurers who had successfully met all the requirements for their adventures. The presence of World Scout Foundation members John Leece AM and Geoff Morgan AM added further significance to the ceremony, reflecting the broader support for Scouting and adventurous journeys.
For adventurers unable to attend the Jamboree, their Certificates of Achievement will be mailed in the coming weeks. These certificates will be presented by their respective Branch Chief Commissioners at an appropriate time, ensuring all accomplishments are properly acknowledged. The gathering not only celebrated past adventures but also inspired future journeys, reinforcing the core values of leadership and exploration promoted by the LTAF program.
