National Volunteer Week 2025

Dear Volunteers,

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest thanks to each and every one of you who generously gives your time, energy, and care to Scouts Australia. Your commitment and service are at the heart of our movement. Every badge earned, every campfire lit, every lesson learned – these are made possible because of you. You are not only shaping the lives of young people, but also making a lasting difference in our communities across Australia.

By volunteering with Scouts, you are helping to build a generation of resilient, compassionate, and confident leaders. You are instilling lifelong values – integrity, respect, courage, and cooperation – at a time when our society needs them most. Through adventurous activities, community service, and the day-to-day support you provide, our young people are learning to lead, to work as a team, and to rise to challenges with confidence.

The impact of your work doesn’t stop with the individual. It radiates through families, schools, and entire neighbourhoods. Our communities are stronger, more connected, and more hopeful because of the example you set and the experiences you create. You are mentors, role models, and changemakers. Your influence builds safer, more inclusive, and more resilient communities—communities where young people know they are supported and empowered to make a difference.

Often, the work you do is behind the scenes and without fanfare. But I want you to know: it does not go unnoticed. Whether you’re leading a section, serving on a committee, managing a campsite, sewing scarves, or cheering from the sidelines – your contribution is invaluable.

Scouts Australia would not be the organisation it is without you. Your spirit of service and belief in the potential of every young person is what keeps our movement alive and thriving. This National Volunteer Week, I encourage you to pause and take pride in what you do. You are part of something bigger – helping shape the future of our nation through the positive impact you make locally, every single day.
