Celebrating Our Program

110 Years of Cub Scouts Badge – Now available

For 110 years, Cub Scouts have been making friends, learning new skills, taking on adventures and creating memories that last a lifetime.

We’re celebrating 110 years of Cub Scouts with this commemorative badge. Whether you’re a current Cub Scout, a volunteer, or part of the wider Scouting family – it’s a great way to mark this special moment in Scouts Australia’s history.

The badge design was the result of a team effort by three talented Cub Scouts from Scout Queensland:

  • Alessandra (Manly-Lota Scout Group)
  • Rory (Kawana Scout Group)
  • Annaliese (Taringa Milton Toowong Scout Group)

What are you doing to celebrate?

Throw a party, host a camp or join up with some other Cub Units in your area to mark the occasion! Use the celebration to provide a feel-good factor and celebrate everything your Unit has achieved.

By celebrating together, your Group can shine a spotlight on Cub Scouts, strengthen the relationships between age sections, and recognise the amazing adventures of your Units.

Creating the path

As Cub Scouts, young people aged 8-11 create the path to big adventures, new challenges and unforgettable fun. Cub Scouts make friends, are curious about the world around them, and help others.

Every week, they gather in Units to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way. Find your nearest Unit here.

A history of adventure

Before 1916, Scouts was aimed at adolescents. It had been so successful that there were calls to develop a similar activity for younger boys. So in 1916 a new section was born, called Wolf Cubs. There were 10,000 members in Australia by the end of that year.

During this time, thousands of young Australians have built confidence, made friends, and discovered the world around them through their experiences in Cub Scouts. We’re incredibly proud of the extraordinary contributions of many volunteers that have made these experiences possible.

Scouts today is a very different movement to the one those first Wolf Cubs joined. Our modern program welcomes all and puts young people in the driver’s seat of their own development. Here’s to the next chapter of helping young people achieve their potential!
