Lead the Next Chapter of the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT)

Scouts Australia is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to take on the role of Principal, Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT)(RTO 5443).

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our nationally recognised training organisation and help ensure that the skills, knowledge and experiences gained through Scouting are recognised and valued beyond our Movement.

The Scouts Australia Institute of Training is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that provides young people and adults with opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

We’re looking for someone who can provide strategic leadership, strengthen collaboration across Australia and continue developing opportunities for our members to have their Scouting achievements formally recognised.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Commissioner of Australia, the successful applicant will provide strategic leadership and oversight of SAIT, working closely with the SAIT Leadership Team, National and Branch teams, and other key stakeholders.

This includes:

  • Leading the strategic direction, operations and continuous improvement of SAIT.
  • Ensuring SAIT maintains high standards of regulatory compliance and quality assessment.
  • Strengthening nationally recognised qualification pathways for youth and adult members.
  • Building strong relationships with Branches and supporting consistency in assessment and recognition across Australia.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation, improved systems and more accessible services for members.
  • Leading and supporting the national SAIT team to deliver quality outcomes.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with substantial leadership experience, a strong understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and the ability to lead a nationally operating Registered Training Organisation.

You’ll be a collaborative leader who understands the importance of quality training, regulatory compliance and recognising the valuable skills developed through Scouting.

Applicants ideally have at least five years’ experience in the VET sector, along with significant Scouting leadership experience. Relevant training and assessment qualifications are also required, as outlined in the role description.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Scouting by ensuring the skills and achievements of our members are recognised, valued and celebrated.
