Scouts Australia is sending a small Contingent to attend the 8th International Finnjamboree “Kajo” in July 2022.

The planned itinerary features three weeks in Finland and includes three nights in Helsinki, four nights of Home Hospitality, a three-night sailing expedition off the southwest coast of Finland, plus the Jamboree.

The Contingent Fee includes all meals, accommodation, travel insurance, merchandise, activities, flights and ground transportation between the date of departure from Australia and the date of return to Australia.

“When I attended the 2016 Finnjamboree, I had an experience unlike anything I had attended in Australia. Hidden within the Finnish forest were admin buildings, 15 metre tall tree houses and saunas floating on lakes, all built by hand, out of timber and rope, by Finnish scouts in the weeks before the event. We were given the chance to create our own experience during the event, with minimal pre-arranged activities and lots of freedom to choose what do to do when. From hanging out in the sauna with friends, working out in the gym made from items found in the forest, sitting around the campfire on the edge of the lake, to climbing up stacks of hay bails with ice axes or learning dances from Scouts from all over the world. Kajo is an opportunity for Australian Scouts to have a taste of pure Scouting in a country with a rich and interesting culture.”
