Diploma of Outdoor Recreation

Most people completing specific adventurous activities courses in Scouting should enrol directly into that activity area using the Unit only Enrolment for Outdoor Recreation. 

The Diploma of Outdoor Recreation is a nationally recognised qualification for planning, implementing and evaluating outdoor recreation programs and activities across a range of activity areas which include complex and non-routine situations. Work would be undertaken autonomously with responsibility for management, leadership of others and maintenance of resources. Work would be performed in and for field locations with varied contexts requiring contingency planning.
There are multiple activity streams and learning pathways in Scouts Australia that provide learning and experiences that align closely and will provide most of your evidence towards meeting the requirements of the Diploma of Outdoor Recreation. Evidence may be gathered in many different ways, some options are;                                                                 
  • Consistent, high level participation in a variety of adventurous activity courses
  • Actively participating and leading a number of adventurous activities
  • Adult Leaders completing training for;
    • Basic Outdoor Skills 
    • Introduction to Training
    • Adventurous Activities Common Core A , B1 and B2 Practicals
    • A range of Adventurous Activities
After enrolling you will;
  1. Need to provide copies of the evidence that you are using for your recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment.
  2. After evidence is provided an Assessor will be assigned who will assess your evidence and work with you to address any gaps against the requirements of the qualification.
