National Commissioner, Adult Training and Development
Elston Hynd is the National Commissioner for Adult Training and Development. He is a member of the National Adult in Scouting Committee, National Operations Committee, National Executive Committee and chairs the National Training Committee of Scouts Australia.
Elston has been a staff member on a number of courses for Leader Trainers in Australia over many years and has specialised in the delivery of Training to Leaders of Adults.
Elston commenced his involvement with Scouting as a Cub in 1966 and progressed through Scouts into (then) Senior Scouts in Brisbane. His first ‘warranted’ appointment was as an Assistant Scout Leader in Wagga Wagga (NSW) in 1979, and most recently he was Deputy Chief Commissioner (Strategy & Human Resources), NSW Branch, responsible for the portfolios of Strategy & Planning, Adults in Scouting, Local Development, Government Relations & Community Development, Scout Fellowships and Special Projects over a five year period. He has been a member of the National Training Team for 25 years.
Professionally, Elston is the Director of Lending for BT Financial Group’s Private Wealth Division. This role sees him having a responsibility for all Operational Risk, Policy, Procedures and Practices across a national business.
Elston is a “Fellow” of the Institute of Public Accountants and an “Affiliate” of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. In addition he holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, Diploma of Leadership, Diploma of Business and has been a training practitioner for nearly 30 years.
Elston is married to Suzie and father to Erin & Sam.
