Have you got an interest and passion in all things technology? Enjoy experimenting with and communicating using radios? Keen to expand you networks across the globe? This could be the role for you!
Scouts Australia encourages all youth members to have an international experience. Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) and Jamboree On The Internet (JOTI) is an important World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) programme to help achieve this objective. JOTA-JOTI offers exciting opportunities for young people to communicate with other Scouts throughout Australia and around the world. JOTA–JOTI is the largest Scouting event in the world with more than 1 million Scouts participating each year across 150+ countries. The event is held annually on the third weekend of October.
The National Coordinator JOTA–JOTI is responsible for facilitating, planning and implementation of radio technology program opportunities, including but not limited to JOTA–JOTI, across Scouts Australia. This includes liaising with the Scouts Australia International Team, Branch Coordinators, other NSO Coordinators and the WOSM JOTA–JOTI Team.
The promotion of amateur radio as a skill within the youth program, and the opportunity to explore new technologies to increase engagement in JOTA-JOTI is a primary objective of this role. The expansion of JOTA-JOTI related STEM activities incorporated year-round in Scouting activities is a key driver for this objective. JOTA-JOTI may support the achievement of Special Interest Areas within our program.
Success in this role will see increasing numbers of youth members actively participate in this program in future years and an increase in JOTA-JOTI related Special Interest Area projects.
To be successful you will have a Certificate of Adult Leadership/Appointment and hold a Wood Badge or be prepared to complete Scouting Leadership and the Wood Badge within 12 months of appointment.
If you’re up for the challenge, submit your application by Tuesday October 31, 2023, and be part of the team that will make a positive impact on the lives of Scouts in Australia!
