New Appointment

Deputy National Commissioner Adult Training & Development

 

 Scouts Australia are happy to announce that Liam Brown has accepted the role of Deputy National Commissioner Adult Training & Development

 

Liam joined Scouting in 2007 as a Cub Scout with 1st Kiama, NSW. He lists Scouting as a key element in his developmental journey. Liam is a Rover Scout with Erindale Rover Scout Unit, ACT

Liam has a demonstrated belief in the product Scouting delivers: our Youth Program. He has held Branch positions in the Program transformation space and, most recently, has been appointed as a Branch commissioner in Scouts NSW, leading the Educational Purpose portfolio. Liam’s passion for empowering adult leaders to become better supporters of the Youth Program began in these roles, and has continued with his appointment as an Assistant Leader Trainer in 2022. He attended the Course for Prospective Leader Trainers in 2023.

 

Liam is excited to contribute to the strategic direction of the Adult Training & Development portfolio, ensuring adults in Scouting have opportunities to pursue lifelong learning and enhance their skills supporting youth development.

Outside of Scouting, Liam is a professional statistician in the public sector. He plays soccer for Yarabi Football Club and enjoys hiking in Namadgi National Park. Liam recommends the Royal Australian Mint as the must-see Canberra attraction.

 

This appointment will take effect from 1 August 2023 for a period of 3 years.
