OneCamp Eclipse

Helping our youth members get the full Scouting Experience!

The Lord Baden-Powell Society has donated a total of $28,000 at WA Branch’s request to support young Scouts across all Sections, to attend WA’s own scouting event, OneCamp Eclipse back in April, where hundreds of Scouts attended.

We are happy to share with you in the coming months, some of the young Scouts’ reports who were sponsored by the Lord Baden-Powell Society and who dedicated some of their time to write, in their own words, of their experiences at OneCamp to share with all our valuable Donors and Benefactors.  Enjoy the reading and watch out for more reports from our Youth Members to come through in the coming months!

I had a great time on the camp and I loved to see Scouting in a different context. Thank you and LBPS for all the assistance and help for this camp.

I really enjoyed the new concept of having all the sections together at a camp. I feel as if this is a great way to get units to get to know each other and properly collaborate as a group. As someone who has never been to Perth, my favourite activity was the Amazing Race. I believe this activity was very well organised and I really appreciated the variety and options it provided. The day expeditions were also a great way to meet new people, especially for when returning to site as this genuinely worked well for me to get to know people in different scenarios. A lot of the adventurous activities which were provided, I have personally done a few times, so I really wanted to make the most of interacting and meeting people, especially coming from the other side of Australia. This meant I got to work a lot on social skills and I really appreciated that the simple activities like the Venturer Sanctuary, Market Day and Expeditions accommodated for this. Overall, I really enjoyed interacting and seeing Scouting across Australia and I will definitely remember how I could see the event being ‘Youth Led and Adult Supported’ extremely clearly as this inspired me as a youth member. Furthermore, I really appreciated how welcoming and warm the Leaders were in WA, making a more enjoyable experience for youth like me.
