We are happy to share one of LBPS supported attendee’s memorable expereince at WA OneCamp 2023.
When William first learnt about Scouts WA is hosting a OneCamp in 2022, he didn’t think he would be able to attend due to the cost of the flights from South Australia. He soon found out The Lord Baden Powell Society is financially assisting Scouts from around the country to attend, he was over the moon!
“I was very happy that I would be able to go to OneCamp to do all of the activities provided and to meet all of the Scouts from all over Australia. It was also really cool to be able to go to Western Australia!” William said.
William and his unit arrived at camp 2 days before the official starting date due to lower flight cost. The unit was extremely excited as this is their first camping experience with Scouts around Australia. The unit had an early start to set up their camp and familiarise with the camp set up before all other Scouts gradually arrived at the camp site.
There were few memorable highlights from the OneCamp experience explained William. ” The food was amazing throughout the whole time at the camp. I had the opportunity meeting lots of people from around the country. Many from Western Australia and some from Victoria. Although I didn’t get to meet anyone from Queensland and Northern Territory, I hope there will be opportunity in the near future to meet other Scouts from other states.”
William also enjoyed the variety of the activities. “All of the activities were real fun and most of them I wouldn’t have been able to have done in SA. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to attend OneCamp…if another OneCamp opportunity comes along, I will apply in a flash and meet new people again!” – William from Scout SA
