Five Scout Ambassadors were presented with the Leadership Through Adventure Fund (LTAF) Badge by Chief Commissioner of Australia at Governor-General’s Camp, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards leadership excellence.
The presentation was held at the remarkable Governor-General’s Camp earlier this month, celebrated the participants’ remarkable dedication and proficiency in demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and risk management through adventurous pursuits.
The LTAF badge represents a culmination of precision planning, rigorous training, perseverance, and a commitment to personal growth in outdoor settings. These participants demonstrated the core values of Scouting, showcasing not only their competence in outdoor activities but also their proficiency in risk management and leadership judgement.
Established through the visionary philanthropy of Dick Smith, the Dick and Pip Smith Leadership Through Adventure Fund is a beacon of support for aspiring young scouts, channelling $1 million towards fostering outdoor experiences and nurturing essential life skills. Inspired by Smith’s own journey as a devoted lifelong Scout, the fund aims to empower youth with transformative outdoor adventures, instilling invaluable lessons applicable to their daily lives.
Since its inception in 2021, the LTAF has facilitated over 60 adventures, disbursing more than $400,000 to 6 rounds of deserving applicants. Now, as the next round of funding beckons, aspiring adventurers are invited to seize the opportunity and embark on their transformative journey.

Dick & Pip Smith Leadership Through Adventure Fund (LTAF) was launched in July 2022 by Dick Smith to provide grants to youth members or project patrols to undertake activity skills and leadership training, adventurous journeys and expeditions. To submit an application, download and fill out the application form and email it to LTAF@scouts.com.au.
