National General Manager

Chris Allen

Scouts Australia welcomes Chris Allen to the role of National General Manager.

Chris, who commences in May 2024 will lead the National Office staff in the support of the executive volunteers and their delivery of the Mission, Purpose and Strategy of Scouting in Australia.

Reporting to the  Chief Commissioner of Australia and the Chair of the National Executive Committee, Chris will work closely with the National Commissioners and members of Scouts Australia’s National committees.

Scouts Australia will draw on Chris’s extensive military and senior government executive experience in policy advice and implementation, governance, financial and risk management, and communications.

An important part of Chris’s role is to continue to work with senior Scout volunteers to ensure that the implementation of Scouts Australia’s strategic plan achieves our Mission and Purpose.

Chris is an experienced government senior executive, published author, public speaker, veteran and father of two boys.

Chris’s post-military career continued to reflect his commitment to service, particularly in his role as Sheriff of New South Wales. In recent years, Chris continued his career as a government senior executive, seeking to diversify his experience within portfolios such as the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and The Office of Sport, and the Commonwealth Department of Communications and the Arts. Between 2018 and 2022, he served as a Member of the Classification Review Board.

Chris lives in Wollongong with his sons. He enjoys riding his Triumph Thunderbird, drumming and writing.
