Scouts Australia is excited to support Lisa Picking as its nominee for election to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC) Association Committee.
KISC, located in Switzerland, was part of Robert Baden-Powell’s vision for Scouting. A permanent Jamboree site, it was created as a place where young people from around the world could come together, share experiences, and build a better understanding of one another.
That vision continues today, with KISC recognised as a global home for Scouting, bringing together young people from across the world to learn, grow and connect.
Lisa Picking is a strong example of what the Scouting program can achieve. Having grown through Scouting, she now serves as International Commissioner for Scouts Australia, representing the organisation on the global stage.
Lisa is a fantastic candidate who has experienced KISC from every angle as a young person, a staff member and a Contingent Leader, giving her a unique perspective to truly understand KISC and how best to support its future.
KISC has played a significant role in shaping her journey. Through her experiences, she has seen firsthand the impact the centre has on young people, building confidence, creating lifelong friendships and inspiring participants to return home and make a difference in their communities.
She is standing for election with a strong focus on ensuring KISC remains accessible, inclusive and relevant for future generations, particularly for Scouts who face barriers such as distance and cost.
Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia, Brendan Watson OAM, said Lisa represents the very best of Scouting.
“Lisa is exactly what Scouting is all about. She has grown through the program and understands the impact it has on young people,” he said.
“Our movement is built on helping young people develop into capable and confident individuals, and leaders like Lisa show what that journey can become.”
If elected, Lisa will contribute to guiding the future of KISC, ensuring it continues to reflect the values of Scouting while expanding opportunities for young people around the world.
The KISC General Assembly will be held on Saturday, May 16
10pm AEST | 2pm CEST
KISC members are able to vote in person, online or via proxy.
